When looking to purchase web hosting for the first time there are a few things you need to weigh out. Free hosting is going to be pushed out of the way for now.  Free web hosting can be great to start with but after a while paid web hosting is needed for many.

As you look into hosting you need to know what your websites are going to offer.  Like if you are going to setup a proxy site you must make sure the host will allow it.  With proxies you need to get a hosting company specifically for them.  With almost any other web sites you will be good on almost any host. It is important to have an idea on how much traffic you will bring in at first. Many times you will not bring in a lot of traffic at first but some can so that is a big issue with web hosting.  Next you are going to need to decide how much space you need.  Will you be running a blog?  Is software going to be able to download or are you going to have plenty of pictures?  After you figure out traffic and space then you can estimate the website you are going need-Once you have decided on these amounts space and traffic you can figure out your bandwidth.  If you are not sure you will probably get by with a minimum account.

Once you have these figured out, there is one other question you must answer before you purchase your web hosting. How many domains do you believe you will host at the same place.  Many times web hosting will offer unlimited domains but with many lower end web hosting options they will cap the amount from anywhere from 2-5 usually.  When you answer all of these questions you will be able to purchase the best web hosting plan for you.
